Made this last night and doctored it up a bit based upon other reviews. I added a couple of teaspoons of garlic to the onions while I sautéed them, added more spaghetti sauce and also added basil, salt and pepper. My sister loved it and i'll make it again sometime.

I wasn't much of a fan of this recipe. My family liked it when it was freshly cooked, but they didn't touch the left overs which is always a sign that this isn't something we'll eat again.

This is my family's favorite for zucchini but like another reviewer you have to use Basil, garlic and onion for flavor. I sauté finely chopped garlic(4-5 cloves) and sliced onion in olive oil when they are transparent I add the zucchini sauté another 2 or 3 minutes and added 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 small 8oz. can of tomato sauce. We like cubed potatoes in it. I will either put them in the sauce before the zucchini and part cook them then add the zucchini or I cube them and boil in water until done and add them to the zucchini/sauce at the end. It is a complete meal. My grandmother's recipe. I also use the bell pepper and cheese. Delicious & tasty way to prepare zucchini!

I have made this for many years as at first it is the only way my family of husband and 4 sons would eat zucchini. I use tomato sauce, veges. gar;ic powder and put crisp crumbled bacon on top before adding the cheese. Yummy !

I have made my own recipe for years that is similar, I don't use Spaghetti sauce, but diced tomatoes, onions, bell pepper and dill, garlic and the magic ingredient BACON. Sprinkle with Parmesan and place under the broiler until browned. So good.

I make this all the time, but added salt and pepper to taste, Italian seasoning and extra sauce. Excellent zucchini dish...

I have been making this for years and years. But not from this recipe. From my own concoction I put together. I sometimes use either our own homegrown tomatoes along with the zucchini and other veggies from our garden or canned tomatoes instead of spaghetti sauce. But what this recipe does not add is garlic, fresh or powdered. That is why some say it is bland. Plus no other herbs, or even salt and pepper. I add fresh basil and/or oregano from my garden when in season or dried when not. The way I make it is a favorite in our family.
