Linguine with Silky Mushroom Sauce

Linguine with Silky Mushroom Sauce recipe
"Silky" sums up this smart dish perfectly. Our creamy sauce that coats the noodles and veggies is nothing if not silky. And the taste? Simply stunning.

A little bland but overall light and tasty. Might try cooking some herbs or the pepper directly into the sauce. Also I would use more produce.

I found the cream cheese-chicken broth combo on the smarter fettucini recipe. It is brilliant. Usually traditional alfredo sauces are much too thick and heavy. This is an easy way to make "alfredo" sauce. You can add parmesan cheese to make alfredo. Or leave as is for a good cream sauce. You can use regular cream cheese or flavored. It works good on any pasta or rice dish. Thanks for the great idea about easy cream sauce. And you can make it lighter with lite cream cheese. And anything with mushrooms..delicious. Love it! :)

I was very disappointed with this recipe. The sauce tasted like chalky cream cheese on noodles. It was so strange I couldn't even eat it! I hate waste but I had to throw it away. In the future I will try adding spinach and mushrooms to alfredo sauce, but I'l never use cream cheese as a sauce base ever again!

I made this recipe tonight for my husband and I. The cream cheese made the sauce taste too much like cream cheese, I added some whipping cream to break up the taste but it didn't help very much. The sauce was just way too thick.

This recipe is definitely one of my new favorites!! I was skeptical because i'm usually not a spinach eater and i like my pasta with some meat, but it turned out excellent!! My husband is deployed right now, but when he gets back, this will be on the menu for him!!

PLEASE use a non-stick skillet for this! I used a stainless skillet, and the mushrooms began to burn very quickly, despite a heavy spraying of canola oil from my Misto before I started. I ended up using 2-3 tbsp. olive oil to cook the mushrooms. I don't use cooking spray because of the chemicals, so maybe that would have made a difference. Anyway, the sauce tasted wonderful, but I would double the amount of sauce, mushrooms & spinach or just halve the amount of pasta to make 2 good-sized servings. To me, there wasn't enough "stuff" for each serving. Again to be fair, I used whole wheat angel hair so that may have made a difference. I will definitely make this again - I think it will be perfect for 2 people with 4 oz. of angel hair!
