I don't know if this tasted so good because it was sooooo easy. I love anything that is this little prep work - mix, layer and bake. My kids loved it. Really basic but definitely a keeper for an super easy, whip together, have ingredients on hand kind of meal. Nothing special - you could add or substitute easily..but pretty tasty as is too.

I make this dish only I add a cup of cottage cheese in the layers. Added calcium and protein and the kids love it. Sometimes I omit the extra tomatoes or I used petite diced to the pieces are smaller.

520 calories per serving. I don't eat much more than that for a whole day's worth of calories. Might be advisable to make your own marinara sauce. It's easy and you control the sugar. Might want to use fat free shredded cheeses for less calories. This is a calorie and cholesterol nightmare.

We love this--super easy and very good. I add a little more shredded cheese than it call for.

Exactly the right recipe for a weeknight. Fast, easy, not expensive and good depending upon the brand of sauce you buy. Find a brand and style of sauce you like and stick with it. Then when you try out a new recipe, you know whether it's the sauce or the recipe to tweak.

This was fine, but it wasn't any better than any other marinara based casserole, lasanga etc. As a matter of fact I prefer the taste of spaghetti or lasagna more and they tend to be less work.
