Went back for seconds because it was sooo goood. Did add some onion salt and pepper. This will be prepared on a regular basis.
Made this twice now and we really enjoy it! You can double it without problem, although I was a bit leary about all that water. Turned out great. We used a taco cheese on top...the bit of spice really made it tasty.
This is a great simple recipe! The teenage boys at my house LOVE it and can even make it themselves.
I'm sure this would be good as-is, but I substituted ground turkey for the beef, and used diced tomatoes with jalapenos. I also stirred in a can of kidney beans and hot sauce at the end. Spicy and yummy.
YUMMY!!!! Really enjoyed this one! Will definitely make again.
Fast easy and yummy next time though I'll add green peppers for color and added flavor
My Mom used to make this for us when I was a kid, now my 15 year old son loves it just as much as I did. I sometimes add peas to give it a little color (also to get my son to eat some peas) and it works well. I also through in a small can of green chilis while the meat browns for some extra flavor.
I too have made this for years but I do not add any extra cheese. I do add a can of tomatoes and drained mushroom (pieces & stems) and chopped onion when the grd beef is browning. Quick and easy for those rushed nights.
I didn't know there was a recipe for this. I have made it for years. I add onions and peppers when browning meat. I use tomatoes and switch it up with spaghetti sauce or a little salsa.
I have been making this dish for 20 years, only I used plain diced tomatoes....on occasion I added some BBQ sauce to change it up a bit. It's a family pleaser....all 4 of my children loved it and now they make it for thier families.
