Between the buttery mashed Yukon gold potatoes and sour cream and cheddar, this skillet casserole was already sufficiently delicious. Then we added bacon.

We loved this! I seasoned the potatoes with pepper,onion powder .garlic powder and a touch of salt since the bacon is salty. I also have fresh chives so I chopped and added those. I think you could easily take the basic recipe and change it to your liking. Don't pass it up due to bland reviews...my grandkids loved it also.

This recipe is great, the only thing I changed was that I used instant mashed potatoes, make the whole thing faster and just as tasty.

I think a couple minutes under the broiler at the end may improve on the basic recipe. Brown it up a bit.

WOW!! You 'bland' commenters DO KNOW that you can add spices to your liking IF you take the time to taste it - and then add accordingly - don't you??? Try it sometime!!

We love mashed potatoes! I made them my usual way with 8 oz cream cheese, 1 c. sour cream,1 stick butter, a little milk, salt, and pepper. A bit of onion powder is a good add in also. Then I did the layering. Great!

Used 1 cup of sour cream instead of half cup, doubled the butter, and added salt and pepper. Very good

Everyone was looking for seconds. I added bacon on the first layer and more cheese on the top too. Not a crumb to found. Highly recommend.

I made this recipe tonight and it was good. However, I do agree with other reviewers about the blandness. I added the milk and pepper to the potatoes while mashing thinking that would keep them from being bland but it did not I am sorry to say.
