My kids absolutely love this recipe. So if you have kids that would get picky about actual stuffed peppers this is great alternative. It is also super easy to make up ahead and have in the fridge for those nights you are running around like crazy :)
Really good. Gives you the taste without having to find really nice looking peppers to stuff and then struggling to get the rice/meat mixture into them. I divided it into 2 smaller casserole dishes and froze one before baking for later, since I live by myself.
I like peppers cooked more so I fried them first in olive oil for about 10 minutes with lid on, removed them then browned hamburger with chopped garlic (from jar, more convenient. Also used microwavable brown rice, used the cheese that was recommended, would use more cheese in future. Anyway, a great dish, super easy and better than stuffing peppers. Adding onion as suggested sounds good to me.
Very Good! I made it in an oven-proof skillet, so I skipped the step of putting it in a casserole dish...less clean-up! I also used whole-grain brown rice (the microwaveable kind). Super easy & a super fast dish to put together. Delish :)
I am not a fan of stuffed peppers - but this dish was super good! The whole family loved it! I read the reviews and added 1-cup diced onion when browning the meat. I also added 1-can petite diced tomatoes to the sauce, 1/2 tea red pepper flakes, some oragano, and basil for extra seasoning. Used brown rice too. I always keep Philadelphia Neufchatel Cream Cheese on-hand, so when I added the diced tomatoes I added about 2oz of the cream cheese and 1-cup of the shredded cheese mixture. * Highly recommend this for the entire family!
Extremely tasteless. Needs some picante, red pepper flakes, hot peppers or green chilis. As it stands now, I wold not make this again.
Great stuffed peppers in a fraction of the time! Brilliant!!
I made this using brown rice, a jar of spaghetti sauce that included mushrooms,and a bit of fresh minced garlic to it and served with garlic bread. It was delicious and so easy! Can't wait to make it again!!
This is one of my favorite recipes. I brown the meat and peppers then put it in my slow cooker with the sauce etc. When I get home from work I put it in a casserole dish and bake it as per the recipe. My husband and I love it served with green beans, mashed or baked potato and a salad. Great dinner and it reheats well.
I've entertained with this hearty casserole twice and have received rave reviews!!
