Ham & Cheese Pot Pie

Warm ham and cheese go together like broccoli and cauliflower. And we've put that in the mix, too. Our hearty, creamy pot pie looks restaurant-worthy and tastes even better.

What You Need

ham steak (6 oz.), chopped

cup KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Cheddar Cheese

cup frozen broccoli cuts, thawed, drained

cup frozen cauliflower florets, thawed, drained

green onions chopped

1/2

cup (1/2 of 8-oz. tub) PHILADELPHIA Chive & Onion 1/3 Less Fat than Cream Cheese

ready-to-use refrigerated pie crust (1/2 of 14.1-oz. pkg.)

Make It

HEAT oven to 400ºF.

COMBINE first 5 ingredients. Microwave cream cheese spread in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min. or until completely melted, stirring every 15 sec. Add to ham mixture; mix well. Spoon into 4 (8-oz.) ramekins.

UNROLL pie crust on lightly floured surface; roll to 12-inch circle. Cut into 4 rounds with 5-inch cookie cutter. Cut leaves from about 1/4 of the trimmings with small cookie cutter or sharp knife; discard remaining trimmings.

BEAT egg and water with fork until blended; brush onto top edges of ramekins. Top with pastry rounds; press gently onto top edges of ramekins to seal. Top with leaf cutouts; brush lightly with egg wash. Discard any remaining egg wash. Place ramekins on baking sheet. Cut slits in crusts to vent.

BAKE 30 to 32 min. or until golden brown.

Chicken Pot Pie

Prepare as directed, substituting 1-1/4 cups chopped cooked chicken for the ham.

Note

If you don't have a 5-inch cookie cutter, invert a 5-inch-diameter bowl or clean can onto pastry; trace around edge with small sharp knife. Repeat to cut out the remaining 3 circles.

Substitute

Prepare using KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Colby & Monterey Jack Cheeses.

I used honeyham,fresh vegetables that I blanched,and I used Kraft processed swiss cheese to help make a creamy sauce.I made my own pie dough.I also added small button mushrooms.It was easy to prepare.Everyone wanted seconds,next time I will make a couple extra bowls,just to keep everyone content.

Another thing, since I have no ramekins I plan to use a 9-inch glass pie plate. I think I might like a bottom crust, too. Any problems with this?

I added pasta to this to make it heartier. Delicious - used wagon wheels. I also did add a bit of cream of chicken as I had some left from a previous recipie. It made it a bit creamier - all good. My teenagers liked it - Iwas worried about the chive flavor, but they didn't mind.

Made this for the first time last week, and family already demanded to have it again. Made it exactly to the recipe specifications (except no green onions, husband forgot to buy them). Delicious! Takes about 30 minutes to prepare + baking time. Worth it! The baking time/temp was spot on. The flavor balance is perfect (plenty of cheese, moisture, veg, etc. And not too heavy on any ingredients), and it is just YUMMY! Will serve this to guests, as it looks fancy but tastes down-home good. I usually don't log in to review recipes, but I had to make an exception for this one. It's worth printing and saving!

I made this last night... delicious! Made it exactly like the recipe (except the green onions/no onions). It is a keeper.
