Instead of the canned tomatoes and corn, I used a jar of black bean and corn salsa. I added it after browning and draining the meat and onion mixture. Good flavor.
Quick and easy.
Made this recipe last night. Turned out AWESOME! Like others suggested I added taco seasoning to meat which gave it great flavor. I had a green pepper on hand so I also threw that in there. Went well with a side of guacamole! Husband approved :) will definitely be making this dish again!
Great flavors and easy to make!
Love the taste of the dish! We added cilantro, cumin and celery salt along with the chili powder. We also omitted the tomatoes and just topped it with salsa. We used 3 large flour tortillas but would like to try it with corn tortillas next time, as it was a little chewy with the flour tortillas. A big a hit at our house!
Delicious!! My kids loved this dish and I loved how easy it was to make. I used burrito sized tortillas so I just needed 3 instead of 6. I also added some cumin along with the chili powder.
I think this is supposed to be a healthy taco pie recipe. You can add beans, salsa, extra seasonings and cheese and substitute the healthy torts for corn or flour torts, but then it's in another category. This does seem a bit bland but if you're looking for lo-cal healthy options this would be it. A more savory recipe would include corn torts, beans, salsa, salt and more cheese. Make it what you want, but keep this recipe in mind as a "healthy" alternative.
I don't know why you always use flour tortillas! If you truly want Mexican style food, you need corn tortillas. They don't get slimey mushy like flour and the corn adds much more authentic Mexican flavor. I also agree with adding black beans! Muy sabroso!
This recipe is very easy and great tasting! I added taco seasoning, used fresh tomatoes from the garden and added 3/4 can of black beans. . . sooo tasty!
I made this recipe with 2lbs of lean ground beef, a tabo bell seasoning packet and added black beans...this recipe is delicious and fast!!
