I also added white wine to this and it was wonderful.
This was a really good tasting dish. One of the best I have had in a while. The only thing I altered about this recipe was I used extra virgin olive oil instead of the bacon drippings and used bacon pieces instead of cooking the bacon slices. This was a very delicious recipe. Would definitely recommend.
My 13 year old daughter made this recipe and it was a hit with my husband and other children. I also enjoyed it (what little I got), and found that the dish reheated well in the microwave. Easy to fix, served it with salad and whole grain baguette.
I was very pleased, quick, easy and delish.
AWESOME... hubby gave me the "D" word... DELICIOUS...(very hard to get him to say that... says otherwise he will spoil me) I left out the peas and used green onions instead in the bacon drippings and used peppercorn bacon... Had a friend also over and wanted all the leftovers...was not even much but Hubby just said NO WAY... Can not wait to make again... got it out of your magazine this month that I LOVE
I doubled the sauce recipe because I needed to make 1 lb of pasta. I suggest using milk as other suggested. The bacon HAS to be crisp and I also suggest not mixing the sauce with the pasta, rather spoon it individually for each persons is rich!!! Danielle:) from NJ

This recipe was really easy and tasty. I agree with several people about the sauce getting too dry. I added some milk to it and heated it up and it was great. Much creamier.
My family and I liked this very much. I used ocsar meyer precooked bacon for convenience. Also added a little milk before serving to thin the sauce a bit. Will make again, and try mushrooms or asparagus instead of peas.
How unhealthy to cook the shrimp in the bacon grease! I am very disappointed in the unhealthy recipes here.
