They were a little crumbly & next time I might up the wet ingredients. I substituted dried apricots & used chocolate chips. I'm putting them in the fridge to see if that helps firm them up. They were so yummy & there might not be any left for my kids! LOL
I made a few adjustments to this recipe. I used half a cup of cinnamon raisin peanut butter and the other half was whipped peanut butter. I chose craisins instead of nuts. They came out so good and really chewy! I think it would have been better to use a smaller pan so they would have been packed together a little better, but they taste amazing!
They are so easy to make and every one loved them. I substituted cran raisons for peanuts.
These seriously tasted like candy & I could've eaten the entire pan myself. I added mini chocolate chips, raisins, craisins, dried apricots, apples, bananas & used Smart Start cereal instead of rice krispies. If adding the extra fruit, increase the amount of pb, honey & brown sugar. Use a potato masher to press in pan.
Great recipe to make your own granola bars without any added chemicals/preservatives (other than what's already in the cereal and other ingredients). The base of this recipe is fantastic & you can basically choose your mix ins. We made this with walnuts and mini chocolate chips! I also think it would be good with coconut, dried fruit, flax seed, whatever you like!
Loved these granola bars! I followed the advice of others and chopped up the nuts and pressed the mixture in the pan extra firmly. They held together just fine. I did add craisins as well and really liked that addition.
I used peter pan pb (whipped) with raisins, pecans, then I mixed rice krispies and fiber one cereal as my base. I basically used what I had in the house and it came out delicious! Thanks for the idea
Wonderful, after school snack for the kids. They loved them! I listened to the other reviewers that mentioned the bar not sticking together, so I chopped the nuts very small and pressed the mixture very, very firmly into the pan. That seemed to solve the problem. Will make again with chocolate chips, but will cut down on sugar so they won't be so sweet.
These are so easy and so very good. I put both nuts and dried berries in - but chopped both first. My daughter requests these quite often.
Very Delicious!!
