What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix

pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding

eggs

2/3

cup water

1/2

cup oil

tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2

cup plus 2 Tbsp. BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream, divided

Granny Smith apples (1 lb.), peeled, coarsely chopped

3/4

cup powdered sugar

tsp. water

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

BEAT first 6 ingredients and 1/2 cup sour cream in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Stir in apples; pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan or 12-cup fluted tube pan.

BAKE 1 hour to 1 hour 5 min. or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan 15 min. Loosen cake from side of pan with knife. Invert cake onto wire rack; gently remove pan. Cool cake completely.

WHISK powdered sugar, remaining sour cream and 1 tsp. water until well blended. Drizzle over cake. Let stand until glaze is firm.

This was really really yummy! We couldn't wait for it to cool completely before we dug in. I used orange juice instead of the water on the icing. I cannot wait to make this again.

I made this for my family and in-laws, cousins etc. They loved it and have repeatedly asked for it again. My mother is diabetic so I used sugar free cake mix and sugar free jello pudding and left off the icing/glaze on hers but it was just as good! I am getting ready to go get the ingrediants to make another for this weekend.

This recipe was good, but it did not live up to what was written in the other reviews. Similar to the other reviews, my cake also stuck to the pan. I think that the apples were really too heavy to be suspended in the cake. I did like the flavors of the cake. Next time I'd try to do it with only 1 chopped up apple, and add in the walnuts like in the other reviews. This cake also tasted better after it sat for 2 days, and it definetly needs the sweet glaze.

My husband chose this recipe for his Birthday cake. It was delicious. I used Roma apples because that's what I had on hand. I did have the problem with the cake sticking but I think it was due to the fact that I didn't get enough cooking spray in the pan. I would definitely make this again.

This is a good cake. Made it for two family Thanksgiving desserts and everyone liked it. First time made it per recipe. Second time, used one less apple, added 3/4 cup pecans and more cinnamon (1+1/2 tsp). Liked it much better the second time.

I tried this on the staff at the office and they loved it! I added some orange extract to the glaze. I used Honey Crisp apples. I'm baking it to take to Thanksgiving to join my pumpkin cheese cake and cranberry/orange cheese cake. I highly recomment this cake receipe!

Cake was very good. Only problem was cake kind of fell apart after i removed it from the pan. Any idea what might have caused this? I followed recipe to a tee...........
