This was so easy & they taste like a Twix bar. If you have any doubts just make them & you will be hooked. The only thing I did differnt was use parchment paper instead of foil & couldn't find caramel bits in my local stores so I used the regular Kraft caramels & weighted out 11 oz.

I made this and it was very good. The only problem I had was the cookies crumbled a lot when I cut into bars. Did anyone else have that problem?

I doubled this recipe and took part to a dessert auction and part to a gathering of friends. They were a huge hit in both places. These are easy and delicious. I will definitely make again.

These were so easy to make and tasted so much like a Twix bar. I will be adding these to my X-mas cookie list!

I can't find caramel bits or even caramel pieces in my local stores. Can I use the chewy caramels found in the cany aisle? If I use those how would I melt them without burning them? Last time I tried to melt caramel in a saucepan I burnt it before the caramels even melted enough. Any thought?

These were FANTASTIC!! My husband wants more this weekend. Marlene, Lorna Doones have been around forever and have been one of my favorite cookies since I was a little girl. You should be able to find them in any grocery store in the cookie aisle. They're a Nabisco staple.

Very easy to make and tasted great! I cut them thin and long, similar to a "twix" bar, and brought them to a neighborhood gathering. Everyone loved them, a month later and people still ask for the recipe. This was my 1st time using the caramel bits, and they were great. No little wrappers to peel off :) I'll get these for all my recipes that call for caramel. I plan to make them again, but I'd like to make my own shortbread cookie dough and press in my pan to use as the crust. Rather than cutting the suggested cookies to fit my pan.
