I made this just as the recipe called for. I could not roll out as far as I needed for the pan, but close. So when I did the top just tucked crust in around sides. I used just as many apples called for. This turned out great, I let cool overnight, cut into bars the next day, they come out of pan perfect. I took them to work and left a few at home. They were gone in minutes, everyone raved on them

Very good. A little more work than I was hoping for and had to make a few adjustments, but easier than actual apple pie, I'd say!

Once I made it past the challenge of rolling the dough out, these are super. I made for a group of women at a weekend scrapbooking retreat and they were GONE in an instant. I will make again for my family next weekend.

I made this and my family AND coworkers loved it. I drizzled on the vanilla frosting and added cinnamin to the dough as well. Then I sprinkled some carmels in with the apples. My coworkers paid $1 for each square to raise money for united way and all asked for the recipe. I used 3 diff. kinds of apples: granny smitch, red delicious and Honey crisp. AMAZING

I had to bake mine almost twice as long as it says, because the apples were piled about 5" deep! So you don't need that many apples. But it is VERY good - warm with ice cream - yum.

I have to agree with other reviewers that this crust is excellent! I made it for a women's ministry group and it was a big hit. I didn't need as many apples so I was glad the recipe translated into cups. I saved a few bars for my husband and me. And when you serve it warm with a little vanilla ice cream? I'm tellin' YOU! This is good.

When mixing up the dough, I added 1/4 cup powdered sugar to sweeten it a little. The dough was easy to roll out between 2 sheets of waxed paper, but it was a bit difficult to maneuver the pastry to the baking pan. I had just enough dough for the bottom and top crusts. I used 3 cans of apple pie filling instead of fresh apples, and I added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the apple pie filling. I didn't use any drizzle on the top, but instead, left it plain. It was very good. I will try fresh apples next time.

I made the bars the night before and served the next day. The bars set up really nice overnight. I would make these again. I served a big crowd with these had many compliments and requests for recipe.
