This needed to sit a bit before adding the chocolate, which needs to cool a bit also. We added the chocolate and waited about 15 minutes to eat it and everything just slid right off onto the plate. We also didn't really appreciate the flavors. It was 10 times better the next day after being in the fridge overnight.
This was a big hit when I made it for a small dinner party. Looks impressive, but not difficult to make.
I made this Labor Day for my mother and father's birthdays and it was a hit. My daughter has requested it for her birthday in October. I found it took much longer to soften the chocolates to make the curls and even then, they didn't turn out very well. Also, 5 minutes is not long enough to cool the cool whip/chocolate mixture before pouring over the cake. It ran very quickly and puddled up on the plate.
I made this cake for a birthday and it was fabulous. Looked like it came out of a bakery and taste unbelievable. I will definately be making this one again.
I made it for Thanksgiving with my usual apple pie. My apple pie always goes quickly...and this year no one had any apple pie and everyone had this cake! I was asked to make for Christmas. Definitely will make again.
Made this several times and have made a few changes to make it meet our needs. We added fresh raspberries instead of adding the chocolate "twisties" on top and around the sides. I have yet to make it smooth and perfect like the picture, but practice makes perfect! Will make this cake over and over again!!
I made this cake and it was all the rave......super moist, rich, and not too sweet!!! I will definitely be baking this cake again!
This cake takes some time to make, but it's so gorgeous, its well worth the effort. It made a beautiful centerpiece on the dessert table. All the chocolate lovers oohed and ahhed. It's so rich that I wouldn't recommend serving it to kids, it's more rich than sweet.
I just made this cake, its beautiful, I did all the layers , I just had a hard time doing the curly Q's so I shaved the chocolate, came out awesome, got the book for xmas, love it!
I made this for our Christmas dinner and it turned out to be great! I ended up only doing two layers because I didn't trust my skills to cut the two cakes in half. The only slight issue I ran into was getting the chocolate to really drip down the sides on its own after pouring on top. But I just spooned some closer to the edges where I felt it was missing and I still got the look I was going for. Cake was dense & delicious; white icing was awesome and my favorite part was the chocolate layer on top that gave it the perfect richness. I will definitely be making this again soon!
