I don't like sugar cookies but I really enjoyed these. They weren't sweet -- even after I added some sugary sprinkles. Having said that, my preschooler disliked the cookies but my husband (who rarely eats sweets at all) really liked them. Go figure.
Never again. The dough was fairly easy to work with after I added more flour down, but the TASTE. Ew! All I could taste is the cream cheese. Not a good thing for sugar cookies.
I love that these cookies are not very sweet. They maintain their shape very well, with very little spreading. I use this recipe to make colored cookie dough, just divide into how ever many colors you want (we use 6) then knead in some gel food color, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and chill for a few hours. I like that it is a soft dough and very forgiving when little ones play with it, making their various shapes to bake. We make a glaze from 1 cup powdered sugar, a table spoon of corn syrup, dash of vanilla and enough water to get a consistency a bit thinner than Elmer's glue. We brush it on with candy paint brushes and add colored sugar and/or sprinkles. They also turn out super cute when brushed with glitter gel icing. you do want to be sure you measure your flour correctly when making these so the dough is not too dry or too sticky.
I got this recipe from the Philadelphia recipe book my husband and I received as a wedding present when we were married 7 years ago, I made the cookies for the first time that Christmas. They've been requested for Christmas every year since. They are GREAT!!!
Easy to make, but pretty bland tasting
I love this sugar cookie recipe. I don't chill the dough I make them in circle. Everyone likes them. MY favorite!
it was ok for me.
These cookies were very easy to make. I don't know how people complain about it being hard to roll out they were the easiest roll-out cookies I've every made. It didn't specify whether to grease the pan or not though and absolutely DON'T cook them for 12 minutes before you test them. I baked mine for 10 minutes and they were perfect!
These were very easy to make and came out very good. Will definitely make them again!
I have been looking for a new sugar cookie recipe. I think this is what I was waiting for! These are so delicious and so easy... I will definitely make these again!
