I make mine with Angel Food Cake. Also, I by frozen strawberries and use them instead of the cold water. We use sugar free jello and lite whip cream to make it a bit healthier

This is a great idea for 4th of July dessert. I did a trial run last week and the family loved it! I am going to make it again for the 4th, but because we are having a Mexican themed pot luck, I am going to change up the cake recipe only, making a tres leches cake, but will keep the rest as is. Thank you for a great idea!

I made this with sugar free strawberry jello and lemon pound cake. It was very good. Especially the second day. It turned mushy but it was really good that way. My best friend said it should become a tradition. It isn't that hard to make either, if you can slice fruit and make jello lol. I think I will make this again next year.

I made this last night for a 4th of July potluck at work today. It was a great hit! Everyone loved it. I used sugar free strawberry jello to make it a litte more healthy. I don't know if using the sugar free jello made any difference in the amount, but it could have used a little bit more jello. Next time I'll try using a total of 9 oz of jello instead of the 6 oz it calls for. I'll then then just increase the boiling water to 2 1/4 cups & the cold water w/ice to 3 cups. I will definately be making this again!

The jello in this did not work texturally for us. It would have been much better sans the jello.

took it to a 4th celebration everyone loved it. There were small children so I sliced the blueberries in halves or quarters depending on the size. for the topping I sliced the strawberries instead of leaving them halved.

I made this for the Fourth of July. My family loved it! It wasn't messy for me. The only frustration I had was that my power went off and I thought that I would not be able to finish the cake. The next time I will use strawberry jello. This was the first time eating berry blue and I did not like that flavor.

I made this before but used Blackberries or black raspberries in place of the blueberries, as we don't care for blueberries
