This is a staple in my house. Anytime I ask if my family want mac and cheese, it can't be anything but this recipe. A few times when I didn't have elbow macaroni, I used bowties, and it was great! And to the reviewer who used 2 lb. of elbows instead of 2 cups...try this recipe again with the right amounts...I guarantee your family will love it!!

Just to clarify the comment about the quantity of noodles. You are supposed to use 2 cups of noddles not 2 lbs, using 2 lbs is WAY to many for the cheese sauce and pan. This recipe is Delicious!!!!!!!!! Everybody loves it and has become a regular favorite everyday and on Holidays!

I used Italian style bread crumbs with parmasean cheese and melted butter for the topping instead of crackers because I didn't have any. I also added some pepper. Turned out well, and was really easy to make. Everyone loves it.

My kids hate mac & cheese, but they absolutely love this recipe. It is requested quite often.

Now a family favorite - they don't want any other kind of mac and cheese. The only other things I do is omit the crackers on top (only cheddar), and add 1 c. sour cream to the cheese sauce before baking. Excellent!

My family loved it. I like my mac&cheese to be creamer tough so I will add more milk&cheese next. I also added bacon, very good.

This was awesome and enjoyed by my teenaged sons and Dad! I did add some finely chopped onions with the butter, before adding the flour.

I was very disappointed in this recipe. I think that in the right quantities, it might be great. But there is no way that 2 lbs of elbow macs would fit in either a medium saucepan or a casserole dish. I followed the recipe exaclty but couldn't fit in all the macaroni so I used what I could. There was definitely too much macaroni and so it didn't all get covered with cheese. It was very dry as a result and didn't look like the picture. I would like advice on the quantities, so that I can try to make it again.
