I made this recipe with what I had on hand (sweet onion, green pepper, left out the peas as my son doesn't like them), and instead of shrimp I used boneless skinless chicken breast. It was delicious and a "keeper" recipe as far as my family was concerned. Making it again for dinner this week.
I came across this recipe in the Summer 2010 edition of Food & Family magazine. I had all of the ingredients, plus a few stalks of fresh asparagus from my garden. The only other thing I added was a healthy teaspoon of Sesame Oil (I like the smokey flavor). My husband and I really enjoyed the recipe. We live in a small town with a decent Chinese restaurant, but, oh my, how wonderful to make something delightfully tastey as well as fresh at home! This is definitely on my Keepers List!
I made this dish tonight for dinner. It was okay. If I make it again, I'll do another variation. I did omit the ham that the recipe called for and added more veggies and used the shrimp.
Better than takeout, and more healthy too. I left out the ham because I didnt have any on hand. Next time I would add another egg. The whole thing came together in 10 minutes-a perfect busy weeknight meal.
This dish is easy to make and also tast delicious!! Only thing is, make sure you oil the pan good because the egg will stick and burn to the pan.
This was great!! I used Teriyaki sauce as that's all I had. Everyone loved it!!
Easy and great taste
Next time no ham, 1 lbs of shrimp, and more vegetables.
My husband loved this dish! He thought i ordered take-out..I had to show him the recipe for him to believe me. It was very simple to make. I used long grain rice, i omitted the ham and used bean sprouts instead. Next time i will add carrots and maybe use sesame oil.
This was soooo tasty - just like takeout but so much healthier! Made a few changes - omitted ham, added fresh garlic, cooked egg first in a separate dish, and marinated the shrimp in a bottled sesame ginger marinade first. Looked like the picture! This will become a regular at our house!
