It's the best!!! Make sure to use the coconut pecan frosting that goes with it.
My grandma always made this for my grandpa in the 60s and 70s. She would bake it in a 9x13 and then freeze individual pieces for his lunch pail. I have always loved this cake and have made it for my mom's birthday every year since around 1980. She requests it every year. Her birthday is right around the corner, and I'll be making it for her 70th!

my mother didn't cook, my father taught me what i know about cooking! i found the recipt inside a bakers chocolate package in the 1960's and i've always wondered if i could ever find the recipt again ... it's so very cool that i found it on the internet. this is an incredible cake - so incredible i've taken the time out of my hectic schedule to write and share with all that we have a favorite frosting to use with this cake - italian meringue - um delish! i'm so very greatful to have found this recipe again. thank you kraft!
I have made this cake many times and it is always a hit. It is very easy to make and even easier to enjoy. EXCELLENT choice for entertaining or special occasions. Easily adaptable to sheet cake for large gatherings too.
This has been a longtime favorite of my family for 40+ yrs. I added coffee to my melted chocolate, which produced a hearty aroma for the coffee-choco-holic in me.
my family has been making this cake since I was a little girl. there are times that we just crave it and I have to make it.
It tastes as good as my grandmother use to make when I was a child. My grandmother is 100% German from Germany... I made this cake for my son's German Class in school and they all loved it.. I will definately make it as often as possible.
10-21-03 I made this cake for my husbands birthday, it is one of the best I have ever made. It is very moist and stays that way. I will make this cake and the frosting for every holiday.
