Cake is delicious but my cake fell. At first it looked like it was rising normally but then the layers sunk in after about 15 minutes in the oven. What did I do wrong?

I make this every year for my wife's birthday. She has been making it for decades. We all love this cake. I have made it in all different size pas and I use a fudge frosting instead of the coconut one from the recipe.

Delicious! I made this for myself for Mother's Day in a 9x13 pan. It was wonderful...took about 45 min. or so to bake. Wouldn't change a thing...one of my all-time favorites.

I love sweets, but this cake was over the top too sweet for me. It was very tender and looked spectacular presented in a beautiful cake dish. I found it to be a lot of work mainly in pots and pans that it requires. Froze each cake layer separately wrapped in plastic wrap and then in a zip loc bag. The day before I needed the cake, I made the filling and refrigerated it. I also put the cake layers in the fridge to thaw out while still wrapped. The day I needed the cake I let the filling come to room temp and assembled the cake while it was stil cold. I had more than enough filling with some left over, but I did not cover the sides.

this cake is delicious. My husband loves German Chocolate Cake, so I thought instead of box I would try one homemade. He loved it. Asked how I got it so moist and spongy. Told him it had to be the egg whites added in at the last. Made 9x13 so if anyone makes the 9x13 it does have to cook longer. Ended up cooking a total of about 50 minutes in glass 9x13.

I LOVE this cake! I've been making it since I was a teenager. It's very moist and delicious. To the reviewer who said the cake is "nasty and dry as dust," either she just doesn't like this cake or she's making it wrong (maybe baking it too long?).

This cake is FABULOUS. NO WAY is it dry as dust...reviewer must have obviously done something wrong. I have made this exact recipe for years without one failure. This cake is moist and delicious. Believe the overwhelming reviews of how good this cake truly is! A family favorite requested for almost any occasion.
