I tried braising the ribs first in the oven for 1 hr. covered with foil and with a little water in the pan before grilling. Turned out moist and tender off the grill. I used spare ribs ($1.99) on special verses the expensive baby back ribs.

i thought this was a good recipe for a meal just thrown together and i recomend the baby backs over the spare!!!

I used the meatiest ribs I could find, added extra bbq sauce and cooked extra long. Noone was shy about wanting the last one (and every one before it).

Would probably use less pepper sauce and less direct heat. Was tasty as was.

Ribs were burned using charcoal heat. I think that the indirect heat method should be specified, especially for charcoal cooking. Ribs usually require a long cooking time (3 hr or so) over indirect heat.

Well, this was the way I use to do them. Then I decided I wanted them tender, not tough and chewy. Smoke them, no ribs can be done right in 1 1/2 hours and be tender. Plus if your coals are too hot you will ignite the sugar in the Bar-B-Q sauce and burn them.
