German Chocolate Cheesecake

What You Need

cup finely crushed FAMOUS Chocolate Wafers

cup sugar, divided

Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

cup flour

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S GERMAN'S Sweet Chocolate, melted

2-1/2

tsp. vanilla, divided

eggs, divided

1/3

cup canned evaporated milk

1/4

cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine

1/2

cup BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut

1/2

cup PLANTERS Chopped Pecans

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F if using a silver 9-inch springform pan (or to 325°F if using a dark nonstick 9-inch springform pan). Mix chocolate wafer crumbs, 2 Tbsp. of the sugar and 3 Tbsp. butter; press firmly onto bottom of pan. Bake 10 min.

BEAT cream cheese, 1/2 cup of the sugar and the flour in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add chocolate and 2 tsp. of the vanilla; mix well. Add 3 of the eggs, 1 at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition just until blended. Pour over crust.

BAKE 45 to 50 min. or until center is almost set. Run knife or metal spatula around rim of pan to loosen cake; cool before removing rim of pan. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

PLACE milk, remaining sugar, the 1/4 cup butter, remaining egg and remaining 1/2 tsp. vanilla in small saucepan; cook on medium-low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in coconut and pecans. Cool. Spread over cheesecake just before serving. Store leftover cheesecake in refrigerator.

Unwrap chocolate; break in half. Place in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1-1/2 min., stirring after 1 min. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

Easy to make...and my family loved it! I was worried after reading some of the other reviews..but everyone enjoyed it...not too sweet, but rich:) The topping was my favorite part.

This was a basic cheesecake that was kick up another notch. The whole family loved it. It wasn't too sweet or rich like other chocolate cheesecake. It had just right hint of chocolate to it.

I feel guilty only giving it 3 stars because everyone else gave it five. But I just didn't care for it. It was kind of bitter to me. My brother said he really liked it but only took two bites. Hmmm... maybe it wasn't the recipe that was the problem, but I pretty sure I followed it perfectly. hmmmm... I don't know why I didn't get a 5 star cheesecake like everyone else ;)

this is the first cheesecake i made by myself. i made it for a thanksgiving luncheon at work and every last bit was eaten. so many people asked for the recipe or wanted to place an order for Christmas!

Cheesecake was delicious and turned out well. I only had one problem. In the recipe when preparing the topping it says to add the remaining egg. I believe it should be egg yolk. All the other recipes I have used for the topping call for yolks. Overall is an awesome recipe. Thanks Kraft!!!
