Bacon & Baked Potato Soup

Bacon & Baked Potato Soup recipe
On top of the heartwarming tastiness of hearty potato soup, we added crumbly bacon, shredded cheese, green onions and sour cream. A sure soup-hall-of-fame inductee.

We loved this recipe and I can't wait to make it again. I also just sauteed the veggies in the bacon grease adding shredded carrots. I used 4 potatoes and smashed 2 of them. To thicken I used Wondra and it worked well. Also just put crumbled bacon on top. Delicious!

To help thicken it up I used instant mashed potatoes. That was an old secret my Mom used. The flavor was great and a hit with the family. Would make again!!

Very good and easy. I added the tablespoon of flour, quite a bit more shredded cheese while simmering and some salt.

Very good!! Very easy & quick!! Will make again. I did make some slight changes, I used 4 potatoes, added some of the bacon grease to the soup to give more flavor, and omitted the celery.

This is a good recipe. I did do a few things different. I added a few cloves of fresh minced garlic and shredded carrots, I also added more onion and celery than what the recipe called for. i cooked the veggies in bacon grease instead of butter to give it a bacon flavor. I added a tablespoon of flour to thicken it up and added 4 slices of american cheese to make it creamier along with another cup of milk. I also did not cook the bacon in the soup just used it as a topping. I think it looses its consistency too much when cooked in liquid and is much better with some crunch, besides cooking it in the bacon grease gave it alot of bacon flavor. Overall my family loved it! This is my favorite kraft recipe so far. Even though I would never tell my grandmother this, this potato soup blows hers out of the water!
