What You Need

cans (8 oz. each) pineapple slices in juice, undrained

cup packed brown sugar

1/3

cup butter or margarine, melted

maraschino cherries, halved

1/2

cup chopped PLANTERS Pecans

pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix

env. DREAM WHIP Whipped Topping Mix

cup cold water

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

DRAIN pineapple, reserving 2 Tbsp. juice; set aside. Mix sugar and butter in 13x9-inch pan. Arrange pineapple slices in pan, cutting if necessary to fit. Place cherry half, cut-side up, in center of each slice. Sprinkle with reserved pineapple juice, then nuts.

BEAT remaining ingredients with mixer until blended; pour over ingredients in pan.

BAKE 50 to 55 min. or until top springs back when lightly pressed; cool in pan 10 min. Invert cake onto plate. (Do not remove pan.) Let stand 1 min.; remove pan. Serve cake warm or cooled.

I made this for Father's Day for my husband and the whole thing went in one day. It came out beautifully. I will make this one again

This recipe is easy to make with readily found ingredients. The center of the cake does not mound to a height that makes it necessary to shear off in order to get a level cake. Delicious!!! This is my favorite recipe.

A little tricky when turning up-side down buy an excellant recipe. Paming the pan helped, per another viewer's recommendation.

The best pineapple upside cake ever. I had some excess pineapple so I chopped it and mixed it with my cake mixture. I also used pineapple juice instead of water and my cake turned out a lot moister. I would recommend you to do this recipe. GREAT RECIPE!!

Turned out perfect. I used the pineapple juice instead of water in cake. The cake was very fluffy and light tasting with perfect amount of topping.

This cake is the best! I didn't read the recipe slowly, so by the time i added all the ingredients it was too late to change it. Where it said to add dream whip i added 1 small container of cool whip. I baked it like that and to my surprise it came out perfect. Next time i will do it the correct way to see how much different it will be. Very moist and delicious.
