What You Need

2-1/4

cups flour

1-1/2

tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder

1/2

tsp. baking soda

pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/4

cup butter, softened

cup sugar

cup mashed fully ripe bananas (about 3)

eggs

cup chopped PLANTERS Walnuts

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

MIX flour, baking powder and baking soda. Beat cream cheese, butter and sugar in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add bananas and eggs; mix well. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in nuts.

POUR into greased and floured 9x5-inch loaf pan.

BAKE 1 hour 10 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 min.; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely.

Prepare as directed, substituting 4 oz. chopped BAKERS Semi-Sweet Chocolate for the nuts.

Prepare using PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese.

How to Soften Cream Cheese

Place completely unwrapped package of cream cheese in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 10 sec. or just until softened. Add 15 sec. for each additional package of cream cheese.

This banana bread was wonderful! It must be the cream cheese. The recipe was nice and easy and the bread came out soft and moist. I would make this again in a second!

This was very good and so easy to make. I've had trouble through the years trying to make a banana bread that wasn't heavy and overdone on the outside. I used the petit loaf pans when making this and cooking time was between 20 and 25 minutes. It made 16 beautiful little loaves.

I liked the texture and density of this banana bread, but as others have stated, it's not very banana-ey. Maybe some extra mashed bananas would do the trick.

This was the first time I attempted to make banana bread, but found this recipe to be very easy to follow. I agree with many of the other comments, very moist great way to rid yourself of overly rippened bananas. However, I will try to spice it up with some of the suggestions such as flavored cream cheese, vanilla, etc. It was missing something, but couldn't have been missing too much two loafs 24 hrs later its all gone :)
