I love this salad and make it anytime I'm invited to a potluck, except I use a larger can of pineapple and 16 oz of sour cream. I also drain the juice entirely from the both the pineapple and the oranges and let sit overnight in the fridge so the coconut and marshmallows have time to sweeten up the sour cream.

This is always a favorite. Compliments any meal. Xmas dinner was enhanced.

I like it better with a can of fruit cocktail added . Also since most of my family does not like sour cream I make another with whipped cream in the place of the sour cream and that goes well also

This has been a family favorite for years...in fact, when I was little, I thought my mother 'invented' Five Cup Salad :) We enjoy this every holiday. I add a jar of marischino cherries for color, and refrigerate AT LEAST overnight to let the flavor set in.

Instead of coconut I use a can of fruit cocktail (drained). Great tasting. I also drain my mandarin oranges and pineapple. Not so runny.

This recipe was served at my bridal shower over 25 years ago. Maraschino cherry juice was added to make the salad pink. I'm surprised this isn't considered a classic.

Sprinkle with a little chopped nuts and/or cherries for a festive touch!
