This is a great side dish or served as a simple dessert. I omit the Miracle Whip dressing and use Cool Whip along with the sour cream. Adding fresh apples, grapes and walnuts adds color and crunch to this already tasty dish!

Since I do not like MIRACLE WHIP Dressing I use sweet evaporaded milk (1/2 cup), and no sour cream, but cool whip, and nuts, it was sweet and to my taste better than the original.

I served this for a brunch for some of my girlfriends and they loved it. I did add some nuts, only because I like nuts in almost everything.

I made this for a family get together, I was kinda weiry of making it with MIRACLE WHIP but I did it along with all the other stuff and it came out bad. I had to call my grandmother to see what I could do to get the miracle whip taste out, she told me to use apple juice which I did. It tasted a bit better after that but I wouldnt make this again.

This was well received by the family, with the exception of the coconut. I will use very little coconut next time or none at all. Gave recipe to a family member. DJ MN

This is a variation on Five Cup Salad, a recipe which has been around for at least 30 years. The original uses 1 cup of sour cream and no Miracle Whip or banana. (I use the colored miniature marshmallows. They make it really pretty.)
