What You Need

cup flour

cup quick-cooking oats

1/2

tsp. baking soda

1/2

cup butter or margarine, softened

1/2

cup granulated sugar

1/2

cup packed brown sugar

egg

tsp. vanilla

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, coarsely chopped

1/2

cup chopped PLANTERS Pecans

Make It

HEAT oven to 375°F.

COMBINE flour, oats and baking soda; set aside. Beat butter and sugars in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in chocolate and nuts.

DROP rounded tablespoonfuls of dough, 2 inches apart, onto baking sheets.

BAKE 10 min. or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 2 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

These cookies were not sweet at all- and I like a sweet chocolate chip cookie. If I make these again I will be using sweet chips rather than semi-sweet.

I made the dough exactly how it says in the recipe and cooked them until they browned, but they turned out really gooey! They didn't stay together at all, I'm not sure if I didn't let them cool long enough or didn't cook them long enough.

I'm wondering if I could use chocolate chips instead. has anyone tried? If so, what size pkg? I'm anxious to try the recipe, it sounds just like the one my mom made but I have never had the recipe. She also used to make a chocolate chip cookie with a white cake mix. If anyone has this old recipe, I'd love to have it. Thanks, Pam

Recipes don't have to specify salted or unsalted butter. If they say butter, they mean salted. They would specify unsalted if they wanted unsalted. That's my guess. :)

This recipe is missing salt! I realized that there was no salt in the recipe while I was making it, but thought I should follow the recipe as written. That was a mistake - the cookies lacked flavor. It definitely needs a bit of salt to bring out the flavor (probably just 1/4 teaspoon as most cookie recipes call for). I did use UNsalted butter and I wonder if the cookies would have been better using salted butter. The recipe did not specify salted or unsalted...

this is the BEST chocolate chunk cookie ever... and i'm NOT kidding.. it is sooooo much better than the usual chocolate chip cookie... the texture is amazing and the taste is impeccable.... i was blown away when i first ate this cookie... i would definatley say this is my favorite cookie EVER.. considering how much i love to bake, i'll definately make this cookie again...
