I made this dip while my sister was in town. It was good that when going after left-overs discovered that there was none left!!! It is easy to put together and really hits the spot.

This is the same basic recipe that I have made for several years that is a family favorite! However we mix 8oz of sour cream along with 8oz of cream cheese and 1/2 pkg of the taco seasoning mix. (If making a pizza pan size tray then use 16oz each of cr cheese and sour cream and 1 whole pkg taco seasoning) The sour cream will help make it easier to spread and dip chips into it without them breaking. Also I recommend putting this mixture in the frig for the several hours in advance of assembling the rest of the ingredients as the flavors will blend and the rest of the dip will not get all soggy such as the lettuce for instance.

This is a great dish to bring to a pitch in. My co-workers would request this when we had pot lucks.

This tastes good. However, after refrigerating it, the cream cheese layer on bottom was almost as hard as a rock and broke every tortilla chip that people dipped into it. You either have to let the dip sit out at room temperature about an hour before serving it so the cream cheese softens up enough to scoop up with a chip or people have to scoop up the dip with a spoon and place it onto their chip.

This is a great recipe but I suggest both for ease of assembly and ease of eating that you spread the layers out on a small pizza pan instead of a pie plate. It's not as messy to work with as chef or guest that way. All the layers are more uniform that way too. Plus, it seems to last a little longer on the table!

My Grandaughter makes this for family get togethers and they all rave about it. It is easy and you can substitute or add ing. and it is still awesome.
