This is an awesome casserole. I add a whole onion and a shredded carrot. I also top the casserole with buttered bread crumbs. It is delicious. I have been making this casserole for 20+ years.

I just made this for the second time and it turned out wonderfully. This time I used a whole onion, 2 cups of celery, 16 oz of swiss, I reserved some cheese to sprinkle on the top, I also used the entire box of crutons and I only used 1/2 a cup of Miracle Whip. I also added 1/2 teasp. black pepper. The first time I made it, it was too tangy and the cheese flavor did not come through enough. This time it was excellent!! I can't wait to have leftovers tonight!

As A mother of 6......EXCELLENT...family requests this over and over again!! I leave out the celery and onions only because majority of the family doesnt like them, I also sprinkle bread crumbs over the top before putting in the oven. I also made this dish as my dish for our thanksgiving dinner which we have over grandparents house and everyone brings a side dish..they all loved it, or so they say!!

Delicious!! We loved it! I added more swiss than what the recipe called for. The next time I make it, I will add some red onion for color.

Use garlic and onion flavored croutons, I use celery soup instead of the celery, yummy!
