I read many of the reviews before i cooked this dish. I love these rice/chicken type dishes. So I cooked the chicken with some lemon pepper/citrus seasonings and garlic powder. So when i took the chicken out and added the soup/rice to the pan with the drippings and then added the chicken to it. It had such a delicious savory flavor. Definately not bland.
This meal is super easy and good. The only problem was it turned out bland. I would suggest using lemon pepper seasoning or maybe a garlic and herb seasoning to add a little flavor. Budget meals can be yummy too!
I made a couple of changes to the recipe, that I think made it turn out really good. I season the chicken on both sides with Mrs. Dash Table Blend before cooking which gives it a great flavor without adding any salt. I also substituted egg noodles for the rice and used frozen mixed vegetables (corn, peas, carrots, green beans) in place of the broccoli. A great week night meal.
I have made this for my family of 10 many times and it's a big hit every time even with a husband who doesn't like chicken! It's very quick and easy and triples very well! I cut up the chicken into bite size pieces to make it stretch a little farther and the younger kids don't have to work to eat it. It's also what I would call a 'pantry meal'. It's made with ingredients that I always have on hand. Good for those nights when I realize I really need to go to the store, but don't have time! Getting ready to make it again right now! :-)
turned out horrible, threw it all away. i made with brown rice, not sure if that had something to do with it. i will try making it one more time, but this time cook the rice and the chicken seperatly. the rice never got fully cooked with cooking them together.
This was a quick easy recipe for a crazy week night. I will make this again for sure. We have 3 boys various ages, they all ate this with no complaints!
i loved this recipe and instead of making it with whole chicken i cut up the chicken and it made it to where u could taste everything instead of just the chicken
Like a lot of reviewers, I, too, thought this dish was very bland when I first made it. The second time I made it, I seasoned up the chicken first, used Cream of Asparagus soup and 2% evaporated skim milk (the "cooking" milk) instead of regular milk. It was pretty good.
I like the rice alot the chicken i would of like more flavor to it. I don't like cook veggies but the veggies wear good also we only put 1 cup of rice in. It was ok just need more flavor
This was excellent, for a nice quick meal. I have made it several times and even sent the recipt to my daughter.
