Unbelievable! A HUGE hit! I made a separte dish of "traditional" Sweet potatoes in the event this did not go over well........once they tasted this recipe, the traditional sweet potaoes weren't even touched! I've been requested to make it again, and I gave the recipe out that day to 3 people. Excellent dish!!
Excellent, I had to give the recipe to three others the first time I made it!
I used the canned potatoes the first time, but I much prefer the fresh potatoes baked in the recipe...that gets a superb rating, however, my family raved about the original recipe....
I made this recipe for Thanksgiving 2004 and even the small children liked it. I think a little more butter in the topping would have made the topping less dry.
I wasn't sure about this recipe in the beginning but it was a total success. I made it for a Thanksgiving potluck at work. Received many compliments on this recipe. Will try it again for our Christmas family dinner. Thanks!
The apples and cranberries really make this casserole! It's melt in your mouth delicious!! You must try it!! This will be a regular in our house!
It disappeared very quickly!
I fixed the Sweet Potato Crisp dish for Thanksgiving and at our office Christmas party and everyone LOVED it - several people asked for the recipe. Instead of using fresh cranberries I used whole berry cranberry sauce. This dish can also be prepared in a crock pot. Just butter the inside of a crock pot, prepare as directed, and cook on high for 3 - 4 hours, although the topping is crispier if you bake this in the oven.
Even though, I love every componant to this recipe;I didn't enjoy the crisp when done. I used fresh chopped cranberries, and wonder if they didn't lend enough sweetness? Perhaps, dried, sweetened would be better. I have to admit, all but a few spoonfuls of this recipe went in the trash.
I made this on Thanksgiving and then again for a holiday party and each time i received great reviews. Each time I was asked for the recipe, which then i refered them th this site. I doubled the cimamon and it makes a real difference.
