The Kids love the fact that there is Jello in the cake and love making the holes to pour the jello into! I have tried it with all kinds of different flavors of cake and jello, all are excellent!

I've made this cake at least 100 times over the years and I always get rave reviews. It's so simple, light and refreshing. Great for summer entertaining. I use the handle of a wooden spoon to make larger holes for the gelatin to soak in. Any flavor of gelatin is good, but I usually use strawberry, cherry or lemon.

I made 8 of these for my neice's graduation party. She doesn't like the super sweet buttercream frosting. What a hit!! We ended up with 3 pieces left! What a great alternative and very refresthing!

I love this recipe for summer and 4th of July, I use 1/2 box of strawberry and 1/2 of the mixed "blue" jello. I make both jellos seperately and pour one on and place in the fridge to set for 15 mins. I then apply the 2nd color. Before I serve the cake after I have applied the Cool Whip I ever so lightly sprinkle a little of the remaining jello powder on top, it gives it a "fireworks" look.

I made this cake today and it was very easy and everyone loved it. I used strawberry cool whip for the topping and strawberry jello. I will be making this again and I would love to try some different jello flavors.

Trying to cut the fat in our diet has made dessert difficult, this is a great solution for a low fat dessert. I used a white cake mix and substituted unsweetened applesauce for the oil, and three whole eggs, 1 cup of water, works great although it takes a little longer to mix the ingredients. After the cake was cooled 15 minutes I poked holes with the handle of a wooden spoon. I used strawberry jello but the combinations like previous reviewers said are endless. No whipped cream just fresh strawberries to top. Yummy.
