I made this for Easter. I used cherry Jell-O. Topped with whipped cream & fresh, sliced strawberries. Very good! I remember my mom making this when I was a kid. A cook in St. Louis, MO

My mom always made this cake when we were growing up but she had her own variation. she always did lemon cake with lime jello. She also had a frosting that she would use that was Dream Whip and Vanilla Pudding mixed, just use half the milk for each recipe and mix, yum! It is thicker and stands up better to the cake than just plain Cool Whip.

Since my husband is a diabetic - used sugar-free jello with a low-carb cake mix and Cool Whip Lite. Yummy!

This is a long time favorite of my family and my husband would prefer the poke cake over any other cake and I haven't met a kid yet that would not prefer this cake over some other types of cake. Love it and continue to make it.

I've made a cake very similar to this since the early '70's, except I used lemon cake mix, Lime Jello for the poked filling and topped it by mixing Instant Lemon Jello pudding with Cool Whip. Wonderful!!!

"Jello Cake" is an old family favorite of ours. My mother has been making it since the 70s. My sister's kids (13 & 9) would rather have this than 'regular' cake. We make it with two layers and two Jello flavors, adding only 1 cup of hot water to the Jello.

I have been married almost 3 years and I made this cake while staying at my mother-in-law's house. In my culture, impressing "la Suegra" (The Mother-in-law) by cooking something is a BIG, BIG, BIG deal. Needless to say this cake was a HIT not only with her but my hubby's grandparents as well. Oh and my hubby loved it too!!!!!!!! Now I make it at least 1 time a month.

I used sugar-free strawberry Jell-o and Cool Whip Lite. It was great! Co-workers commented on how moist the cake was.
