JELL-O Pastel Cookies

Pretty in pink, green, yellow and any other color you love. Jell-O Gelatin in the dough and sprinkled on top makes sugar cookies even more special.

What You Need

3-1/2

cups flour

tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder

1-1/2

cups butter or margarine, softened

cup sugar

pkg. (3 oz. each) JELL-O Cherry Flavor Gelatin, divided

egg

tsp. vanilla

Make It

HEAT oven to 400°F.

MIX flour and baking powder. Beat butter in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add sugar and 1 pkg. gelatin; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture.

SHAPE dough into 1-inch balls. Place, 2 inches apart, on baking sheets. Flatten with bottom of glass. Sprinkle with remaining dry gelatin mix.

BAKE 8 to 10 min. or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 3 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

I baked these cookies for a birthday party and the were a big hit, Excellent. Great taste full of flavor. I do agree with the others about the extra box of jello. I did buy an extra box and did'nt even use a quater of it. I love the color of this cookies. Would be great for Easter cookies. Will make again

Tasted just like sugar cookies only 1000 times better!! only use 1 box of jello though, the extra box for the topping would be way too much.

I liked this recipe, but I didn't not use the extra Jell-O on top, also, I think that is you do not want them to sweet, then you may wnat to use 1/2 a box instead of the whole box in the batter. I will defiently make them again, my co-workes liked them and so did my daughter.

I made these with my kids, and my nieces and nephew. The kids had fun making them, but I could do without the extra dry Jello on top. I think they are sweet enough without it. It's easy to get the dry Jello on the baking pan when you are trying to put it on the cookies, and then it burns on the pan.

I made a strawberry version of this cookie and was surprised and the bright pink color the cookies had. They turned out much brighter than the pink ones in the picture. Watch out for the baking temperature and time length. This temperature was too high for my oven. I baked them at 350 degrees for 9 minutes.

These were disappointing - they look so pretty in the photo but the taste of the jello powder is overpowering. I made them this morning with lime green jello - the whole cooking just tasted of it.

I was hesitant to make these cookies with such mixed reviews, but I'm glad I did. I really liked them, and so did my neighbors. I even handed out the recipe to one of them. I used orange Jell-o and part vanilla, part orange extract to give the flavor a little boost. I also made then egg shaped. They looked great.
