Very bland. I added extra spices and it helped some, but I don't know if I will make it again. If I do maybe I will try frozen beans. We didn't care for the taste of the fresh beans.

This was sooo good. I made some changes though. I didnt do this in a crock pot, i did mine on the stove, but it was still so delicious.

This was such a great dish. I made it the original way the first time around and then a lighter version with turkey bacon the second time. This will always be included in our weekly menu. Also if you don't have fresh green beans on hand frozen works well and you don't have to add the chicken broth!

Made this for Thanksgiving and it was great. Even better a few days later. Needed a little salt and it was perfect. I used a good bit more bacon than the recipe called for. Made a big differance!

Second review! This time I omitted the bacon grease and just sauteed the onions in EVOO! I also didn't have fresh tomatoes so used canned diced peite tomaotes. Sprinkled bacon bits in w/ tomatoes and it was just as fantastic as the first time w/ less grease and quicker!

MADE THIS RECIPE IN THE OFF SEASON OF MY GARDEN, SO I SUBSTITUTED FRESH "MATERS" AND BEANS FOR ONES MY WIFE AND I HAD CANNED LAST SUMMER. THE RECIPE IS SIMPLE, QUICK, AND ABOUNDS WITH FLAVOR. IT GOES WELL WITH BEEF OR PORK. ESPECIALLY GRILLED PORK LOIN CHOPS.

There's nothing like fresh green beans, but this is a good side dish even when made with canned beans (and very fast)!
