For a fun family activity, fill the centers of cutout cookies with crushed hard candies. The candies melt during baking to resemble stained glass.

I used premade sugar cookie mix instead of making the dough from scratch and think this may have affected the taste. They were a hit with the family though. A warning while baking - once the candy starts to melt, it can quickly start to burn. I lost a whole batch by giving it an "extra minute."

I needed a thank-you gift and a birthday gift for co-workers, and I am on a budget. These were inexpensive yet special. I added more honey. To remove easily from the aluminum foil, I sprayed it with non-stick spray and then after the cookie sheet cooled, I popped it in the refrigerator for 5 minutes. The cookies came right off. I will definately make again!

The dough tasted good. But the cookies were HORRIBLE! The idea is nice but the cookies burned and got stuck to the pan. I wouldn't make these again if you paid me. I didn't even make an entire batch. I got so frustrated after two tray fulls I through the rest of the dough away!

Even though you may have to add a little more honey, the recipe worked great! My friends and I had lots of fun smashing the candies.

First the dough made me crazy, then the crushung of the lifesavers. Took way longer than I expected and they have no taste. They look pretty, thats it. Skip it!

Although it takes some time to make them, the results are well worth it. Very pretty cookies. I had no problems with the recipe as is. (If you want to spray a bit of Pam on the aluminum foil, don't use very much. Best bet is to spray a paper towel and slightly rub it over the foil.) My kids loved them.

We saved the center cutouts and sprinkled them with crushed candy and baked them--using original cherry Lifesavers. They tasted ike poptarts. We liked them better than the large cookies!

To KJB595 - If you follow the comments I left last night you should be fine. If you have almost 1000 cookies to bake by Sun., definitely do a small circle cut out and put the lifesaver in whole - it WILL melt just fine and you'll save a ton of time. If you don't have the new non-stick foil, use regular and spray with cooking spray and be sure to let the cookie completely cool first and it won't stick - this is VERY important. Have two pans so you can keep moving while the other cools. The dough worked fine for me. Don't roll too thin and don't let the cookie brown or it'll be too crisp! Also try the colored sugar on the edges to dress it up some more. I think I'll add a full tsp of vanilla next time too for more flavor. Good luck! Liz in CT

Ok now I have gotten done with my first batch and let me say I am WAY disappointed! I couldn't even hardly see the candy which might i add i filled to the top of the cookie! I am going to find a new recipe to try with this cookie cuz this one is not so good at all!!!
