I have made this receipe for the last 30 years. It's fast, easy and every loves it.
I used the fat free, sugar free jello and the fat free topping in this recipe. The family never knew the difference, only me.
My husband and I love this salad. He doesn't like nuts so I replaced them with Maraschino cherries. It tastes great that way. Another variation that I tried is using Coconut cream pudding and adding mandarin oranges. The pineapple and coconut make it taste like a Pina Colada
If you need a quick and easy dish, you should try this. I use sugar-free Jell-O and fat-free whipped topping. I also add extra marshmallows, pecans, and whipped topping to make a bigger bowlful. I'm making it for a family reunion this weekend.
I've had this recipe for close to 20 years now and still love it. This "salad" is addictive! We make it over the summer, for cookouts, etc, and for most holidays. This is one of the first recipes my children learned to make on their own when they were younger, and have since added to their own recipe collections.
I grew up with this salad and still fix it for my kids. My parents told us that it is called watergate salad because it was served at the watergate hotel. I hope that is true. I also have made this with orange pudding when it was sold two years ago with mandarin oranges instead of the pineapple. Delicious!!!
This recipe never fails me. I've cut it in half by measuring the pudding powder and dividing it and then make the other adjustments to fit the recipe and it's perfect. I tried a similar dessert using the instant lemon pudding and canned mandarin oranges and grated lemon zest. Terrific!
I loved this dessert as a kid and decided to make it for our 4th of July BBQ. Everyone just loved it. Especially all of the kids. It's so easy to make even my 4 year old pitched in. I'm sure it will be a favorite desset in our family for years to come.
This is a classic desert, everyone in my family just loves it and it is so easy to make.
I made this recipe and my mother is taking the recipe to Atlanta for our family reunion and we are going to make it for the family.
