I have made my own variation of this recipe for literally years-I could not remember the exact amount of each of the ingredients but it is so fool proof you don't have to be too precise to have a perfect side dish/dessert. My kids and I always called it "Martian Food". Love it.

I have been making this for years.. Since I am the cook for all occasions.. My family requests this every time I have a big get together.. So easy to make ..I prefer the crushed pineapple in heavy syrup.. It seems to be sweeter to me...

My mother thinks that if I don't make it for our annual Christmas gathering than something is amiss, I must make it. I also add marachino cherries halved and dropped in last. and pecan or mwalnot pieces ddropped in last. I love the red/ green colors for Christmas. I could probably make it "almost" sugar-free for my diabetic dad, but he doesn't love it like we do.

I used to eat this a lot during the holidays. I havent eaten it in years because I could never remember the name to search for the recipe, so when I saw it on the site just in time for Christmas I was so happy, brought back old memories! :)Enjoyed it.
