Cheesy Nacho Bake

What You Need

lb. lean ground beef

can (14-1/2 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained

1/4

cup water

pkg. (1-1/4 oz.) taco seasoning mix

3/4

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream, divided

oz. tortilla chips (7 cups)

1-1/2

cups KRAFT Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese

green onion, sliced

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BROWN meat in large skillet; drain. Return meat to skillet. Add tomatoes, water and seasoning mix; stir. Cook 10 min., stirring occasionally. Stir in 1/4 cup sour cream.

PLACE half the chips in 13x9-inch baking dish; cover with layers of half each of the meat mixture and cheese. Repeat layers.

BAKE 20 min. or until heated through. Top with onions and remaining sour cream.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with a crisp mixed green salad.

Substitute

Omit water. Substitute 2-1/4 cups chopped cooked chicken for the browned ground beef.

Variation

Prepare as directed, using BREAKSTONE'S Reduced Fat or KNUDSEN Light Sour Cream and KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Cheddar Cheese.

I made this for dinner tonight and my whole family loved it! Even my 7 year old who is a really picky eater cleaned her plate! I will definately make again.

I made this for myself and my husband and found that the recipe had a fair amount of prep time. I added refried beans to the recipe and it was good. One of my complaints is that the chips on the top layer did stayed crunchy, which made the casserole harder to eat. Also, make sure you SPRAY THE BOTTOM OF YOUR PAN WITH NON-STICK SPRAY! The recipe does not mention this, but it you don't spray it, your chips will stick! Overall, the recipe was good. I like my Mexican food spicy, so instead of just using diced tomatoes, I used Rotel. It added the extra spice needed.
