Black Bottom-Banana Cream Pie

Classic diner dessert meets state fair midway treat, and a star is born. Like a chocolate-dipped banana treat, only with a crust instead of a stick.

What You Need

Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided

NILLA Wafers, finely crushed (about 1-1/4 cups)

Tbsp. sugar

pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces

large bananas, sliced

pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding

1-3/4

cups cold milk

cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Make It

MELT 4 Tbsp. butter; pour into medium bowl. Stir in wafer crumbs and sugar. Reserve 2 Tbsp. for later use; press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate.

MICROWAVE chocolate and remaining butter in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is melted and mixture is well blended. Drizzle over bottom of crust; top with bananas.

BEAT pudding mix and milk with whisk 2 min.; pour over bananas. Refrigerate 4 hours. Top with COOL WHIP and reserved crumb mixture just before serving.

The crust was amazing. I had an open box of vanilla wafers and was a little short so I substituted some animal crackers. Everyone LOVED the pie at the BBQ I took it to.

Amazing. Feel free to use about a dozen more Nilla Wafers than the recipe calls for though.

This is a wonderful dessert....I have made a Chocolate Banana cream pie for years, but this is a new twist adding the Vanilla pudding back into the recipe, along with the chocolate. Delish!!!! This one was a big hit at my mother-in-law's birthday party.

I have made this 2 times now and it is great. The second time I used white chocolate squares because the store was out of semi-sweet and it was delicious.
