this bread was good, but not a huge hit with my family, mainly because they have more of a sweet tooth and this tasted too "healthy" for them.
I read the comment about the child that is allergic to nuts... I would add a bit more banana to add the favor lost by the cereal and add the same amount of plain post flakes... you would have the same texture that way. I have used different cereals in several recipes that kraft has sent. Hope this helps...
I substituted the walnuts for sunflower seeds. I have a nut allergy, and found you get the extra crunch with Sunflower Seeds :)
anyone have any ideas on how to substitute something for the cereal? My son is allergic to nuts so I don't want to chance it. Obviously I will leave the walnuts out too but wasn't sure if I just add extra flour in place of the cereal??
i made this bread several times now. everybody in my family loved it and especially my father-in-law who wants me to make this every week for him. i have made this cake with splenda and still it tasted very good.
Tried it today - yummy! I used Honey bunches of oats cereal and no nuts though. The only thing is it didn't rise as much as I would've expected it to - but delicious nonetheless!
I just made this as a trial run because I want to make some for friends this fall... Never made banana bread before and this was really good. I did follow other's advice and used more bananas, but other than that I followed everything else. I will make it again.
Good and Easy! A bachelor can do it. Oh, that's me!
I've been making this for years and it's always moist and full of flavor. Freezes well too if wrapped properly. Don't defrost on the counter or it will get soggy.
I had a bunch of bananas that were going bad and I happened to have a box of Post blueberry select so I tried the recipe. I used more banana than the recipe called for and if I hadn't it may have come out dry. Good stuff!
