Graveyard Gelatin Dessert

I was unable to find the wafers the recipe required, but i just used Oreos instead and they worked great. Other than that it was a hit at my halloween party!

What You Need

FAMOUS Chocolate Wafers, finely crushed (about 1-3/4 cups), divided

1/4

cup sugar

Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided

cups boiling water

pkg. (6 oz.) JELL-O Orange Flavor Gelatin

Ice cubes

1/2

cup cold water

CAMEO Creme Sandwich Cookies

Decorating icings

pieces candy corn

pumpkin-shaped candies

Make It

MIX 1-1/2 cups wafer crumbs, sugar and butter in 13x9-inch pan; press onto bottom of pan. Refrigerate until ready to use. Beat cream cheese in medium bowl until well blended. Gently stir in half the COOL WHIP; spread over crust.

ADD boiling water to gelatin mix in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to cold water to measure 1-1/2 cups. Add to gelatin; stir until slightly thickened. Remove any unmelted ice. Spoon gelatin over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm.

SPREAD remaining COOL WHIP over gelatin just before serving; sprinkle with remaining wafer crumbs. Decorate cookies with icings to resemble tombstones; insert in top of dessert. Add candies.

This jello dessert was a big hit, but I would have liked a little more jello flavor. Maybe using both 1 large box and 1 small box of jello. All in all, this dessert was very simple to assemble and delicious.

It looks really good and spooky and taste great too. Just want to let those who don't use gelatin a lot, you would have to wait about 30-45 min for gelatin to start to thinken up.

Very frustrating as I was making this the night before a luncheon at work - the cream cheese layer did not spread easily at all and made a big mess with the cookie crumbs. There was not enough of this layer to cover even half of the 9x13 pan. I had to throw it out and start over. Tripling that layer helped. You also need to double or triple the top layer to cover it enough to look like the picture. Tastes great!! So - I would make it again with the modifications.

Great recipe! My husband especially loved it. I did change several things. First, the crust doesn't need the extra sugar! The cookies are plenty sweet by themselves. Second, I tripled the cream cheese/cool whip layer. When I made it like the recipe called for, the cream cheese layer barely covered the cookie crust! It was such a thin layer you wouldn't even be able to taste it! When I tripled it, it looked like the picture. I would at the very least double that layer. And Lastly, I added some sugar (I didn't measure) into the cream cheese layer. Without it, there is no sweetness and it was not good! With those few changes, this recipe was great. I'll be sure to keep it for next halloween!

I have made this dessert at Halloween for the last couple of years. Now all my friends have already asked me to make it again this year. It's very easy to make and it's fun to decorate the top.

I made this receipe last year for my company Halloween party it was a hit I also altered the receipe and made it for Cinco De Mayo and the 4th of July with diffrent Jello's and fruit and difffrent decorations it is a hit no mater how you make it.

I made this recipe for an office party and everyone loved it. I as well made this recipe with pre-crushed oreo's. I also added some regular graham crumbs to the top to make it look more like dirt. I found ghost and skeleton candies which was a huge hit at home to. I made a Christmas version and again 5 stars. Lite and everyone loved it.
