I've been making this recipe since 1977 when it first appeared. IT MUST BE MADE IN AN 11 x 17 JELLY ROLL PAN or there will be overflow, trust me. If that size is not available, use a smaller pan and put the excess chocolate mixture into cupcake cups. You can reserve some of the cream cheese topping for the cupcakes and swirl, etc. I try hundreds of recipes but always come back to this one because it's not too sweet. You won't be disappointed.

These were good, but I guess I wasn't expecting the chocolate part to be so airy and cake-like.

I thought this dessert was awesome!! Everyone at work loved it!! Next time I wouldn't add so much chocolate to the top of the dessert, I found it a little too sweet, but otherwise it was excellent!!

the cake layer is delicous...I would not put as many chocolate shavings as they say to--it makes it way too rich and a little too chocolately for me :o)

I have this recipe from an old Philly Cream Cheese cookbook. I've been making this recipe for the past 10 years or so. Don't let the ingredient list scare you. It's very easy to make and the taste is just out of this world!

My mom makes these every holiday and they are expected . We have had them as long as I can remember. If you had a higher rating I would give them a hundred. Thanks for the fantastic recipe.

My mom cut this recipe out of the TV guide in the 70's. If you follow it to the letter it's absolutely amazing. I like to double the creamcheese part for a more cheese cake like dessert. This has been a family tradition for over 20 years. Now my family and inlaws look forward to this special treat!
