what you need

cups thinly sliced peeled pears

1/2

cup firmly packed brown sugar

Tbsp. MINUTE Tapioca

Tbsp. lemon juice

1/2

tsp. ground ginger

1/4

tsp. ground cinnamon

pkg. (15 oz.) ready-to-use refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts)

Tbsp. butter or margarine

Make It

MIX pears, brown sugar, tapioca, lemon juice, ginger and cinnamon in large bowl. Let stand 15 minutes.

PREHEAT oven to 400°F. Prepare pie crusts as directed on package for 2-crust pie, using 9-inch pie plate. Fill with fruit mixture. Dot with butter. Cover with second pie crust; seal and flute edge. Cut several slits into top crust to allow steam to escape.

BAKE 45 to 50 minutes or until juices form bubbles that burst slowly. Cool.

I also used pears from my backyard....I increased the brown sugar to 3/4cup, doubled the cinnamon and used one more cup of pears. This pie did not last long at my house.....my son is not a big fruit pie eater...but he loved the pear pie!!!!!

I have been baking most of my life and I was able to guess at the amount of Tapioca. But, I thought that this site was here to help new and inexperienced cooks. Please reprint this Pear Pie recipe and put in the proper amout of Tapioca to be used. It will be helpful to all of us. Thank You. I love Pear Pie!!!

I am terrible with pastry so I shy away from making pies, but this one sounded so good that I just had to try it. Boy am I glad I did! It was a huge success and everyone wanted the recipe!

THIS RECIPIE WAS GREAT THE ONLY THING THAT I DID WAS ADD MORE OF THE SPICES IT TASTES GOOD WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM WHAT A CHANGE FROM APPLE PIE I WILL MAKE IT AGAIN SOON.

There's nothing like a good pie, it being my favorite food group. And if the pie is made from a luscious fruit, all the better. This one is all the better.
