I made this recipe for Thanksgiving and now I've had several people ask me for the recipe to make for Christmas. I couldn't find cranberry jell-o so I used dark cherry flavored and I also used mandarin oranges instead of naval oranges. It went well as an accompanyment to a green salad.
You cannot mess this up! I've made a version of this for 15 years. If you like it chunkier, less jello-y, add chopped apple, chopped celery(cuts some of the sweetness) double the orange and walnuts. It's awesome on that next day turkey sandwich too! Also, if you have a hard time finding cranberry jello, use orange jello, you can barely tell the difference.
It's one of my holiday favorites. quick, easy, colorful.
Very good. I may try it with jellied cranberries instead of whole cranberries. I also used a small can of mandarin oranges instead of a fresh orange.
My family and I loved this recipe. Easy to make and not too sweet (not a dessert) with a great cinnamon/clove spicy kick. Even people who don't like cranberry sauce loved this one!
I thought this was very good. We enjoyed the different flavors and textures of the jello salad. I'll make it again for another holiday event.
This mold was very different and tasted good, but not as a desert. I liked it as a cranberry sauce over the turkey, the only problem is if you put it over the turkey it melts a little if the turkey is pretty hot. But if I was going to make it again it would be as a side for the turkey, not as a desert. My friend liked it as a dessert but no one else did.
I tried this as it was written and my family ate it up in a flash. Then I tried using one box of the cranberry jello and one box of orange jello in the sugar free. I added chopped apple, more nuts, and the orange slices and WOW! I can't keep it in the house it's ate up so fast! Has become one of our regular treats and fave!
very good!!!
Every Thanksgiving I get asked to make this mold. I never mind, because it is very easy to make, plus it is out of this world! The best part is they think I slave over the stove all day making it. If you love cranberry and oranges YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE! **make sure you lightly spray your mold dish before putting in the mix. I sometimes add coconut flakes too.
