What You Need

pkg. (2-layer size) spice cake mix

can (15 oz.) pumpkin

cup MIRACLE WHIP Dressing

eggs

pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/4

cup butter, softened

Tbsp. milk

tsp. vanilla

pkg. (16 oz.) powdered sugar (about 4 cups)

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BEAT first 4 ingredients in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Pour into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.

BAKE 32 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan.

BEAT cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating after each addition until well blended. Spread over cooled cake.

Variation

Prepare using 15x10x1-inch pan and decreasing the baking time to 20 to 22 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Storing Cream Cheese Frosted Cakes

Cakes filled and frosted with a cream cheese icing should be stored in the refrigerator.

Oh My Goodness!!! This recipe is easy and so good. It is wonderful to have a fall desert that is different from the usual deserts.

After reading the high recommendations for this recipe, I too, made it & I must agree - this recipe was GREAT! Also, I too, made it with 1/2 cup of Miracle Whip & it was still very moist.

My Daughter's(ages:9&10) and I made this together for something fun to do...We loved it so much. I sent it by E-mailed it to my oldest daughter(Anne) in California- Who loved it and passed it on to her boyfriend's Mom... So it just keeps pleasing all who make it, and then pass it on to see if it will come back to you-forward your name and address with every pass on, so it becomes a long list and hopefully comes back to you...Mary, Anne,Oivia and MaryCatherine.

I haven't made this yet, but my Father loves Pumpkin. He is Diabetic so I can adjust the recipe slightly to accomodate this. I am always looking for a new Pumpkin recipe and will let you know how it turns out. Thank you.

These are the best pumpkin bars! I have been making these bars for several years and never get tired of them. I, too, use a cream cheese type frosting.
