Picnic Macaroni Salad recipe
Waaay beyond boring macaroni salad. Bacon, tomatoes and pickle relish add loads of flavor to a picnic-perfect salad that's just the thing for a hot summer day.

My family are real picky eater's, the actually enjoyed this alot. I was inpressed
I left out the bacon and tomato; substituted chopped dill pickle for the relish and added sliced green olives. I refrigerated it overnight. It was kind of gummy like leftover Kraft Mac and Cheese usually is. I like Kraft Mac and cheese so just add a little milk and heat it in the microwave. My company I was expecting couldn't make it so I warmed the salad to room temperature in the microwave with some milk then added a can of tuna, some cottage cheese and cubed cheddar cheese. This was really good. I would make this again intending it from the beginning as a tuna macaroni salad.
I made this for thanksgiving. The only thing was that I should have made more everyone loved it and went back for seconds!
I served this dish warm. The taste was peculiar-it was almost sour. I'm not sure if it was the crispiness of the onions, the sweet of the relish or the sour of the mayo, but the different tastes in this dish did not blend well together. I would not try this dish again.
Great warm or cold! Took it to a fish fry and didn't bring any home.
Love it. I found this recipe last summer and have used it on numerous occasions. I haven't been a big fan of macoroni sald until this version!! 2 thumbs up
next time I make this I think I will use less onion, because it seemed to overpower some of the other flavors. However, thats just me and I'm not a big fan of onion.
I decided not to add all of the dry cheese from the box. I did add chopped green pepper for flavor and color. I also used a package of the pre-cooked bacon which eliminated a step. I just cut it up with my kitchen shears. Next time I will add more mayonaise to make it a bit creamier. This was very easy and very good. Any favorite food could be chopped and added, be it meat or vegetable. Just use your imagination.
I made this for a family gathering and it was a huge hit! It was wonderful!
