Made this for a baby shower. Everyone loved it. Some of the guests asked if I had taken a cake baking class. It was easy and it even looked pretty.

I used two 8" pans and had no problems with overflow. I divided them each in half and followed the directions exactly. I did double the icing recipe. I made it for Easter dinner and two guests thought it came from a bakery. I would definitely make it again.

It was a hit, my neighbor says it inspire her to bake. I change the decoration instead of fresh raspberry I decorated with spice drop candies to look spring. Beautiful and delicious.

I am very good at making cakes - it's my "thing". I have made several cakes on this site and had no problems with them. This cake was the exception! It almost over flowed the 9" pans, the middle was not cooking fast enough and the bottoms of the cake were over done - almost burnt! I think it has to do with the butter (browns quickly - and there is a whole stick in this recipe.) And why are we told to add the egg yolks in with a white cake mix? I was not impressed - the icing tasted good - but a little runny. It may need more powdered sugar.

I made it for my husbands birthday and it came out wonderful! Whoever was saying it overflowed the pan or didn't cook did something wrong. I fixed the top layer from sliding off by stacking the cake layers while they cooled. this helped keep the bottom layer flat.

This cake was wonderful the first time I made it. I am going to make it again for my husband for Valentine's Day! I definitely recommend this recipe as a simple option to take the place of a regular chocolate or white cake! Yummy!

I made this for Christmas. My family loved it. I read all the reviews and added the almond extract and made it a 4 layer. My family called it wedding cake. I doubled the frosting and tinted the extra green and made decorative flowers around it. Refrigerate it for a couple of hours before moving it so the layers do not slide. I also made sure not to put the jam too close to the edge. Great recipe!!!
