Chocolate Royale Cheesecake

This chocolate cheesecake gets "royale" status because it's unbelievably rich and incredibly impressive. Think of those berries on top as an edible tiara.

What You Need

OREO Cookies. finely crushed (about 1-1/2 cups)

Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted

pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

cup granulated sugar

Tbsp. flour

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces, melted, cooled slightly

tsp. vanilla

eggs

Tbsp. sifted powdered sugar

cup mixed berries (blueberries and raspberries)

Make It

HEAT oven to 325°F.

MIX cookie crumbs and butter; press onto bottom of 9-inch springform pan. Bake 10 min. Meanwhile, beat next 3 ingredients with mixer until well blended. Add melted chocolate and vanilla; mix well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing on low speed after each just until blended.

POUR batter over crust.

BAKE 55 min. to 1 hour or until center is almost set. Run knife around rim of pan to loosen cake; cool before removing rim. Refrigerate 4 hours. Top with powdered sugar and berries just before serving.

Everyone loved it. However, since it was the first time I made a cheesecake I wasn't sure about the direction to cut around the edge of the pan after baking. I wasn't sure if it should be immediately, or after it cooled. I waited and watched the entire cake split down the middle as it shrunk and was not released from the edges. By the time I realized the problem the damage was done. It still tasted great and I just served it in slices rather than put the whole thing on display. The directions could have been a little more clear.

Everyone at Christmas Dinner loved it. It's definitely going to be a tradition in our home for the holidays. I made it without the hazelnut liquor - I don't know how the consistency would work adding more liquid. And the berries are the perfect touch! Thanks for sending the recipe Kraft!

I rated this recipe as "good" because it probably is. however, my 1st attempt did not succeed. I followed everything to the tee but the center never set...when I took the springpan off, the cake collapsed. Any suggestions are welcomed.

This was a very easy recipe to make. I substituted Disaranno liquor for the hazlenut liquor. WOW! It was perfect. Thanks!

I also need to know if the cookies are crushed with the cream filling or do we buy oreo crumbs?

This is absolutele heavenly....only thing I did different, was to skip the powdered sugar and left out the berries. I topped it with whipping cream and grated some chocolate on top of that.....UNBEATABLE for a sweet tooth like myself.
